Our re-thatching service includes:
- Removal of the old wire
- Stripping of old thatch where necessary
- Checking roof timbers
- Sparing down of the base coat and building up of the ridge for correct pitch
Once we have a solid base, we move on to the second stage:
- Construct a new coat of thatch with a depth of around 14 inches
- Create a new ridge of either block cut pattern or flush depending on your preference
- Apply a new gauged wire with either lead or cement flushing around the chimney
